The 6th Annual Workers' Compensation Policy Conference will take place on Thursday, July 17th and Friday, July 18th, 2008 at the Renaissance Long Beach Hotel in beautiful Long Beach, California. This year's conference will feature a panel of senior workers' compensation executives from California's and the nations Fortune 500 companies discussing the impact of recent reforms in their companies and the importance of continued vigilance at all levels. CCWC will also be inviting several statewide elected officials including probable candidates for Governor in 2010 and California's Insurance Commissioner to give their take on the state to each of you during this important conference event.
This annual event will feature for the first time, three separate subject tracks including Claims Management and Legal issues, Workplace Safety and Injury Prevention, and Workers' Compensation Best Practices will be covered in a total of twelve breakout sessions throughout the two day event. General sessions already scheduled for this year's conference include:- Global Risk Management: A review of California versus the rest of the states from the viewpoint of some of the state and nation's top companies. This fantastic panel discussion will be moderated by Mr. Stephen Wilder, Vice President of Risk Management for The Walt Disney Company and will feature several employers including Mr. Kurt Leisure from The Cheesecake Factory.
- Case Law Update: A Point/Counter-point Review of Major Cases in 2007/2008 from respected Defense and Applicant Attorneys.
- A View from Sacramento, 2008: Hear from representatives of the California Applicant Attorney's Association, The California Chamber of Commerce, The Division of Workers' Compensation, and the Insurance Industry as they review 2008 so far and give a preview of the rest of the year and 2009.
- Doctor Reporting Requirements Under New Law: How to best comply with the plethora of new statutory requirements on medical reporting and know what you need as the employer. This session will feature DWC Medical Director, Dr. Anne Searcy, a major insurance provider's Medical Director, and one of California's largest employers.
- Reducing Injury Severity and Costs Through Building a Relationship with your Medical Treatment Facility;
- Almost THREE Hours on Fair Employment and Housing Act Litigation and How You Can Avoid it as an Employer in California;
