CCWC Strongly Supports the Confirmation of Ms. Carrie Nevans as Administrative Director, DWC

The California Coalition on Workers' Compensation strongly supports the appointment and confirmation of Ms. Carrie Nevans as the California Division of Workers' Compensation Administrative Director.  Ms. Nevans, serving as the Acting and then appointed Admininstrative director since 2005 has been an integral part of the implementation of the 2004 reforms.  Ms. Nevans has been explicit in her determintation to ensure a fair and balanced workers' compensation in California and treated both injured workers' and employers with respect. 

Ms. Nevan's confirmation hearing is expected to take place in Late May, 2008 and CCWC strongly encourages each of our members and the general employer community to send a letter to the Senate Rules Committee on her behalf.

Senate Democrats Attempt to Double Permanent Disability Benefits, Introduce Legislation 

Senator Perata amended yesterday Senate Bill 1717 which would eliminate the 15% bump up and bump down as well as double PD benefits by 2011.  CCWC and the greater employer community are strongly opposed to this arbitarary effort.

SB 1717 (Perata-D) would:

CCWC is asking for your help and participation in coalition letter voicing the public and private employer community's strong opposition to this legislation.  Special thanks to the California Chamber of Commerce for circulting this letter.  Your IMMEDIATE response is necessary as the Senate Labor and Industrial Relations Committee has set a deadline of this Friday to submit letters.

CCWC strongly encourages each of our members to become involved in at least one of our committees. The Government Affairs Committee meets on the third Friday of every month from 1:30PM – 3:30PM.
