California Assembly Insurance Committee Approves Numerous Rollbacks to SB 899
April 27, 2006
The California State Assembly Insurance Committee on Wednesday approved several bills that chip away at the important workers' compensation reform packages passed in 2003 and 2004. These rollbacks to reform include a lift of the physician pre-designation sunset date of April 30, 2007 (AB 2068, Nava-D); statutory inclusion of Acupuncture medical treatment guidelines (AB 2287, Chu-D); changes to the Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy utilization caps (AB 3026, Lieber-D); and a study to redefine first-aid in workers’ compensation (AB 1862, Vargas-D).
The California Coalition on Workers' Compensation opposed each of these measures and will continue to stand in opposition as these bills make their way through the legislative process.
