Senate Democrats Introduce Measure to Double Permanent Disability
April 16, 2008
Senator Perata amended yesterday Senate Bill 1717 which would eliminate the 15% bump up and bump down as well as double PD benefits by 2011. CCWC and the greater employer community are strongly opposed to this arbitarary effort.
SB 1717 (Perata-D) would:
- Delete the 15% bump up/down for return-to-work offers.
- Double permanent disability benefits by 1/1/2011 by doubling the number of weeks that an injured worker collects benefits for each percentage point of disability.
CCWC is asking for your help and participation in coalition letter voicing the public and private employer community's strong opposition to this legislation. Special thanks to the California Chamber of Commerce for circulting this letter. Your IMMEDIATE response is necessary as the Senate Labor and Industrial Relations Committee has set a deadline of this Friday to submit letters.
