Legal Structure

Legal Structure

The California Coalition on Workers’ Compensation is a California Nonprofit Mutual Benefit Corporation filed with the IRS as a 501(c)(6) – "Business League." A business league is an association of persons having some common business interest, the purpose of which is to promote such common interest and not to engage in a regular business of a kind ordinarily carried on for profit. Trade associations and professional associations are business leagues. This tax status grants CCWC exemption from most state and federal income taxes and allows the organization to further the purpose of its members through lobbying as a primary activity.
